Silver-Beaked Tanager

#feathruary Day 5: (Red) Silver-beaked tanager. I am always on the hunt to find new and interesting tanagers. It started back when I did my undergrad study abroad to Costa Rica, the place where the love of birds really began. We were doing a study with bird counts as we traveled about the country and my group was to focus on the data from all the tanagers we found. Ever since then I always enjoy learning about new ones since they can be very colorful. This tanager is found in the more northern countries of South America, so I have not seen it personally, but wanted to draw it when I saw it was described as “velvety crimson.”If you google this bird you will get how that description is spot on!Also be on the look out for birds to come, I couldn’t resist adding a few more tanagers to this month’s challenge list!
