Wooden Globe Art

I think it is good for designers to work in other mediums other than on the computer. Thus this wall art piece for my church. Love my church.

This has taken me 2 1/2 months to complete. It's roughly 8ft wide by 4ft high and made of 2in x 2in cedar blocks, of various depths, glued to a CNC routered outline of the continents (minus Antarctica). Behind the art piece are copper lines for the equator, Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn. Vertical lines are every 40 degrees. The small tile groupings represent the locations my church has people serving all over the world. Four locations at the moment, with more to be added in the future. This is raw cedar that was lightly sanded and polyurethaned to seal it. The color variation in the same wood is so beautiful.

There you go. Something a little different. Hope you all like it. Sorry for the mediocre iPhone photos.
