De Colores Farms | Female Farmers Photography Series

After immersing myself in the land that I love for two years, I wanted to showcase some of the amazing females I met, making the magic happen around them. In 2021, to highlight their strength in the face of challenging ecosystems and the labor of growing food for such a large society, I set out to immortalize them in print for a small photography series I exhibited at the Female Empowerment Art Show in El Paso, TX.

De Colores Farms is ran by friend Yvonne and she was one of three fierce females I photographed that year.

Yvonne’s mission is to grow food while also honoring the traditional ways of producing, building community and engaging in the next generation of farmers. She's pictured here, tending to her corn field.

I met Yvonne in kindergarten in El Paso, TX, when we were five. We've stayed in touch throughout those many, many years and I was lucky enough to photograph this gorgeous gal for a photography series I produced and executed titled: Women's Work, in 2021.

Sometimes we still sell vintage fashion together and talk animals and plants.
