Unfold Exhibition Promotional Art

The Challenge

Created for mock gallery exhibit ‘UNFOLD’ showcasing design through time, a series of promotional graphics needed to be designed, each in the style of a classic designer. I've always admired the work of Alex Trochut and Saul Bass, and so these designers informed my styling for the two promotional works.

The Designs

This first work was created with inspiration from Saul Bass’ famous designs from the mid-20th century, taking inspiration from his use of strong colours along with symbolism and simple shapes.

Representing the flow of design through time, this design can be interpreted as the difference in design tools through eras (paintbrush vs pen tool), just as much as it can be seen as the unison of these tools that remains in modern design.

Taking inspiration from Alex Trochut's use of visually-driven typography, this work was built in Illustrator. Shapes and lines are a nod to the core elements of the design world.
