Seller Management Platform - Case Study

Introduction

In the rapidly evolving landscape of direct-selling health products, businesses often need help finding a platform that efficiently manages their operations.

This study focuses on my collaboration with a health product company in an emerging market.

Together, we embarked on a remarkable journey to create a seamless and innovative platform from scratch.

By harnessing technology and overcoming significant challenges, this partnership successfully transformed how sellers and team leaders managed their sales, substantially increasing referrals, bonuses, and overall growth.

Building from Scratch

Recognizing technology's immense potential, the company and I collaborated to develop a comprehensive platform that would revolutionize direct selling.

I had to do extensive research and development efforts would be needed to achieve an intuitive interface that appeals to sellers and team leaders.

So I took a look at some competitors to understand what they were offering.

First Prototype and Testing

After initial discussions with the founders and some team leaders, I made the prototypes and designs of a simple seller management platform and developed them using React and PHP.

 

Once launched, I noticed many team leaders had notepads with many of their teams' credentials and were manually switching between accounts to report their earnings to the secretary, which was done now through the system.

This was normal to them, as those with previous experience with other companies had to do this repeatedly.

User Research - again

This revelation led me to do more interviews with the team leaders, who served as the sales department's backbone; I delved further into their needs, challenges, and aspirations.

Many emphasized the want for a platform that simplifies account management, as they often had to juggle multiple team members' accounts, referrals, sales, and calculate bonuses, especially for those with limited internet literacy, of which they were many.

This task proved daunting. How was I supposed to design a product for such a target audience?

Frequent visits to the secretary's office for updates further hindered their efficiency. It became clear that addressing these issues through a user-friendly platform was paramount for enhancing their productivity and overall satisfaction. 

The second prototype - empowering Teal Leaders

Acknowledging the need to manage a growing network effectively, I introduced innovative features within the platform to assist team leaders.

These features allowed team leaders to manage their teams, offering guidance and support seamlessly.

The tools provided a comprehensive overview of team performance, enabling leaders to identify top performers and areas requiring attention.

These functionalities proved revolutionary within this context, empowering team leaders with the necessary tools to drive success. In short, this update was all about empowering Team Leaders.

Results

Implementing the second prototype yielded impressive results for the company.

By streamlining processes and offering real-time insights into sales performance, the leaders experienced unprecedented growth.

The platform empowered them to monitor progress, identify areas for improvement, and access valuable resources at their fingertips.

As a result, this heightened efficiency translated into higher returns and bonuses for their whole team.
