Because right now I feel neither. I look at a face I’ve seen thousands of times. It’s still the same. It can’t smile properly. But it is mine.

The beckon to auto-annihilation is knocking again. Or, rather whispering. It’s like my own voice, but I can tell it is not me.

I feel imprisoned in a fortress of my own creation. I’ve revelled in it too long, but beyond its walls frighten me more than it’s own darkest depths.”
