Eat the Rainbow - Research & Design

This is a landing page concept for a chrome extension concept I'm working on around helping people to make better choices when shopping for food online.

Problem Space & Ideation

I had an idea about the problem space but I wanted to explore it more thoroughly, I also wanted to capture ideas, assumptions and hypotheses along the way to test later.

Discovery Questions

My initial idea was based around 'an app' but other areas became more interesting during the research phase. Specifically the more fundamental questions around how much value people place on eating a variety of fruit & vegetables and their current habits with shopping and meal planning.

Research

I wanted to validate some assumptions I used in the ideation session. I needed to know more about people's shopping, eating and meal planning habits. A simple survey would allow me to prove or disprove some key assumptions.

Research conclusion

Opportunity: Over 50% of people said they considered the number and variety of fruits & vegetables they were buying but had no system to do so.

The majority of people shopped on their phone which made it difficult to integrate with many different supermarket apps.

A big enough portion of people shopped on desktop or laptops to make this a viable opportunity to deliver an experience.

Validation: A chrome extension to count the variety and number of vegetables was validated as having a need and a technical opportunity.
