PokémonNow- A Cloud Streaming Service

A project focused on making all 122 Pokémon games accessible for all players in a cost effective way.

Synopsis

This UX case study analyzes the challenges users face when accessing the Pokémon game library. Pain points such as cost, device compatibility, and ease of use are identified through user research and data evaluation. The following cloud gaming service is proposed as a solution to improve the user experience and make accessing and playing Pokémon games easier on any device.

The Problem

With over 20 main series games and various spin-offs and 122 games in total to date, the Pokémon franchise offers a vast array of gaming experiences for players of all ages. However, obtaining access to every single one of these games can be a daunting task, both in terms of the cost and the various platforms and devices on which they are available.

Cost

Currently in total, to own or have access to all 122 Pokémon games, it would force a user to spend over 6 thousand dollars. Most of it going to 3rd party scalpers increasing the retail price.

Device Compatibility

In order for a user to play all the Pokémon games, they would to have to own around 12 different game consoles, amounting to 1,200$ for the user.

The Solution

Design a service dedicated to making all Pokémon games accessible to all users, without them having to spend an exorbitant amounts of money to be able to enjoy the games.

Conclusion

It is hoped that the implementation of the proposed cloud gaming service will provide a more seamless and enjoyable experience for Pokémon players, and ultimately contribute to the growth and success of the Pokémon franchise by making it more accessible to a wider audience.
