Language Proficiency Test Prep App

Overview

Here's a brief summary of a case study I've been working on. The goal was to create a visual prototype for a test preparation app designed to prepare English as a Second Language (ESL) students for a language proficiency test like the IELTS. The focus here was on developing English writing and vocabulary skills.

Home

Students start at the Home view, where they're able to jump back into lessons that they've been working on, or start lessons recommended to them based on their goals, current proficiency level, etc.

Explore

Students don't necessarily have to follow a recommended learning path -- they're free to self-serve and look for whatever content they'd like to learn or practice. That's what the Explore view is all about.

Lesson

When it comes to writing tasks like those on the IELTS, students can view sample responses, complete a guided writing exercise, or view a prompt and engage in free writing. Once they've completed the minimum words requirements for a task, they can submit it for review.

Progress

Finally, there's the Learning Progress view. This view summarizes a student's progress towards short-term and long-term learning goals, and generally shows the pace of their engagement and activity over the past weeks.
