Daily Logo Challenge #06 - Coffee Shop

#dailylogochallenge

I'm not a coffee drinker myself, so I can't really relate to the experience of going to coffee shops. Decided to give it a shot anyway.

My thought process was that a coffee shop's logo should be clearly associated with drinking coffee, otherwise it may be mistaken for some other type of establishment (unless you're globally recognized, like Starbucks). That's why I took the pretty obvious route of using a hot cup of coffee as the subject matter instead of something more stylized or abstract.

While working on different versions of cups, hands cradling a cup, and steam coming out of a cup, I found this cool shape that looked sort of like a bonsai tree and sort of like a question mark. I leaned into the question mark angle by adding a dot to the cup and shaping the steam into a nice curve. This was particularly useful, because the cup was a bit too visually heavy when completely filled with white.

The result is what could work for a small coffee shop called "Question Cafe" or something similar. :)
