PITAKA Playoff: Dynamic Series

This project was an exciting opportunity to collaborate with PITAKA, a brand that stands apart for bringing unique innovation to life.

IDEA

Inspired by PITAKA’s Fusion Weaving™ Technology, a combination of weaving sequences.

This collection is dedicated to those who are always in motion and do everything they love.

Presenting the new ‘Dynamic Series’ fibre case design submitted for PITAKA Playoff: Design a Seamless Pattern.

CHALLENGES

It was a tough task at the beginning for me to understand Carbon Fibre Weaving Technology, different weaving methods and their possibilities. The information available is limited, unlike fabric weaving technology. It took me days to collect data and understand the technology from professionals who work in the industry, and the internet. Once I learned in detail about plain, twill and harness satin weaves, I found myself keen to begin creating designs based on PITAKA’s Fusion Weaving Technology.

DESIGN + PROCESS

Now, the task was to come up with a design that is visually appealing and does justice to the innovative Fusion Weaving Technology.

Honestly, it wasn't easy to come up with a pattern that fits the weave. It was a trial-and-error phase for me. It took me hours and days of experimentation to come up with my very first pattern that perfectly fits into the Fusion Weaving Technology. Success!

Well, I continued to focus on the process to come up with dynamic patterns that stay true to the core product idea of Fusion Weaving. Once I figured out a few designs, I built a series around them.

FLAUNT IT! I decided to divide the canvas into two equal portions, to give enough visibility to the pattern, and to accommodate a combination of multiple weaving sequences.

The top half carries the newly designed pattern and the bottom half still uses a 2x2 Twill weave, since it is considered a strong weaving type. The patterns you see on the top half are designed in detail, to show they can be woven with a combination of plain, 2x2 twill, 4x4 twill, 4HS, 5HS and 8HS.

Please refer to the detailed process and workflow showcased below.

I believe that the 1:1 split layout treatment will grab the audience's attention since it is unique, loud and clear.

It was a fun trip altogether. I enjoyed working on this project.

Thanks for reading! I hope you like my design. 😊
