I remembered four major-leaguers in Korea as the composition of the World Baseball Classic Illustration. The reason I made the artwork with four major-leaguers wanted to include the meaning of "4" in Korea.
In South Korea, "4" means the god (four gods) who defend the north, south, east and west. There are four gods: BLUE DRAGON, BAEKHO, JOOJAK, and HYUNMOO. Each god also symbolizes a set of the five Elements and colors.
These are telling stories and legends of constellations in East Asia.
I wanted to express baseball as meaningful illustration along with Korean traditional culture based on Korean culture.
