NFT Marketplace UI Concept

Introduction

Hello, I’m a Multidisciplinary Designer who is looking to upgrade my Product Design and UI skills through both the Product Design and UI courses offered by Dribbble.  The following Case Study is for our final class assignment within the UI course.

Challenge

The client is Moon, they are a new up-and-coming startup with the goal of revolutionizing the NFT marketplace business with a design-first approach and a deeply curated experience for the users.

Establish the visual language of this new NFT marketplace app that is ready to revolutionize the digital art scene. Lock a visual aesthetic and then scale the design on multiple screens, based on the wireframes and the flow that is provided by the client. Build a UI Library of the final UI and create a functional prototype.

Mood Boards

The goal was to offer 2 design directions to the client, so 2 mood boards were created.

Concept 1 was “Light & Artsy”.  The vibe intended here was to be artistic with good energy.

Concept 2 was “Dark and Techy”.  The goal for this mood board was to feel modern and tech related.

Wireframes

The following basic wireframes were provided by the “client".

My next step was to select 2 of the screens to mockup with styles based on the mood boards.

Design Direction

Result based on Concept 1 – Light and Artsy:

Result based on Concept 2 – Dark and Techie:

It was decided that Concept 2 – Dark and Techie was the winning design.  While developing this concept, I initially incorporated flashy gradients and other details, but ultimately stripped-down the design and kept it very simple and clean.  This decision was based on the app selling art, and therefore the pieces being sold should be the main focus for customers, not the UI background.

Design System

Once an art direction was decided, I then developed a design system within Figma.  It was also at this time that I further reviewed the wireframes and improved UX functionality.

Final Screens

Here are my results for all 5 wireframes:

What I learned

I feel I greatly improved my understanding of layout within Figma. I'm grateful for the experience.

Thank you for viewing my art, enjoy your day:)
