A Study in Gothic Noir

With this sketch I wanted to obtain a gothic noir color palette and style. The character is styled using gothic stylized features. I paid particular attention in sketching the hair using various lines and contours to create details in the flow and direction of the hair. The facial features of the character are sharp and thin adding to the gothic style of the overall design. This sketch was drawn on traditional paper with pencil and imported into photoshop and colored using the multiply layer feature.
