Card Component
Now that we are armed with standardized templates to work with, we have been tackling the components of our native mobile application library. As a Product Manager who transitioned to a Product Designer, working on creating the foundational building blocks of our core product gave me a new perspective and appreciation for the level of craftsmanship we strive for as a team. And this is one of the first vital components we delivered – Card.
It's a process
The first step was understanding how this component is being used today in various flows and performing thorough research. We combed through our internal audit to take note of the variations like styling, size, and levels of emphasis. Competitive analysis was next to study the industry trends and how our competitors solved similar issues.
After compiling our data, we synthesized our findings and iterated through to achieve the optimal matrix of variant properties so our fellow Product Designers could quickly grab and use the component most intuitively.
Learning through partnership
We partnered with our Growth squad to ensure our creations are usable and can satisfy our internal customers' needs. They were a phenomenal partner to test out what we built, validate our decision-making, and to help us improve our internal process so we can better serve others. Their new project to improve our retention ultimately brought what we incubated into life, to share what we've all been working on with a broader array of customers worldwide.
What's next
And this is only the beginning of our collaboration. We are setting the foundation of what it means to support each other through genuine conversation and connection so that we can rise above together as a team.
