Apple Wallet | Redesign

Being new to iPhone there can be a bit of a steep learning curve. Here are my suggestions to flatten the Apple Wallet learning curve a little bit. Yes it is an extra screen, but hear me out...

---

Analysis (before):

When you tap a card in the Wallet app it opens a separate card screen.

  • This screen does not show that the card is ready for payment. You only see it go into ‘payment mode’ when a reader is nearby or after you verify (TouchID or FaceID).

  • The transactions list can not be searched.

  • The ‘Done’ button insinuates that you are in an edit mode here.

  • The transaction dividers have padding on the left but none on the right.

Redesign (after):

  • Pay and Transactions are split up in two screens. Here’s why:

1) Together with a tooltip it emphasizes that the card is already in payment mode.
2) It keeps the focus on the primary use.

3) A dedicated screen for Transactions allows for easy searching (swipe down from top).

  • A ‘(back to) Wallet’ button replaces ‘Done’.

  • Dividers have equal padding left and right.
