Snowscape App

Snowscape is an app for searching for great locations and accommodations just for winter sports holidays.

Problem Statement

Many people can spend a lot of time searching for the right winter sports holiday which can take a long time and snowscape hopes to help users save time on that.

My Role

My role on this project was to work on designing the project from research right through to delivery.

  • User research

  • User flow

  • Wireframes

  • Visual Design

  • Prototype

  • User testing

  • Iteration

Process

RESEARCH- DEFINE- IDEATE- PROTOTYPE- ITERATE

User

What is the problem we're trying to solve? what can we help the user with?

Holiday go-er needs:

  • Free up their time

  • Providing a seamless service

  • Finding a trustworthy booking company

Pain points

  • A lot of choices

  • Sometimes too expensive

Target audience

The age demographic that I put it to and researched within was 30-55 who love winter sports and love to spend time away skiing/snowboarding.

User Persona

I interviewed people that I saw as potential users. From the interviews I learned about their habits and needs- what they love about their current booking holidays experience and what they want in the future. This helped me hugely with getting more information for the user persona too.

User Flow

I researched competitor apps during the research stage and what I found was really a lot of apps had a long process to get through it, and I wanted to make this as easy as possible for the user.

Brainstorming ideas

During the process I find brainstorming sessions so useful and invaluable for the on going process. This helps to give more insight into what was going to need about within the app, and the user. It helped to understand and look within each category: the holiday booker, and the hosts. This helps to get more of an understanding of a more complete overview to better plan the app and what was going to be needed for it all.

Usability Test

After designing hi fidelity mockups and visual design aspects of the app I tested with users.

I asked users to go through the onboarding process and also the process of getting to a chalet and ready to book. After I got feedback, I iterated the design and took on their feedback.

Feedback

Overall, it was great feedback, they all loved the visual design and it was easy to use. There were a few iterations to sort through and I feel it looks great and it ticks a lot of boxes in terms of usability and giving users a great experience.

Final Product

Outcomes and what I have learned

I feel that it was a fun project and a project I could see could have so many features but was happy with what I stuck with and designed.

I really love the visual design for Snowscape and I feel it works really well for the app. I think the design of it and how it's not overly busy is really appealing and makes it for a great user experience.
