Over the course of a decade, Telegram has transformed from a bare-bones messaging app into a full-fledged social media platform, but with no Facebook-like targeted adversiting or addictive algorithm. It has also become a hive of extremism and misinformation, while attracting little of the scrutiny other platforms get.
