Oxford Study Buddy

If you’ve ever laid awake at night wishing your educational books looked more like Adventure Time, then Oxford Study Buddy is the study series for you. The aim was to create a fun and inventive study series for highschool students across Australia.

We conceived the project at Oxford University Press’s Melbourne office over several meetings between myself and OUP’s secondary publishing team. There was a lot of talk about making it unique and edgy. Characters needed to feel like familiar archetypes, not just cardboard stand-ins.

The final product gives readers an experience, where they must finish chapters to earn Knowledge Crystals which are then used to help return transformed Oxford University Professors back into their original bodies. We book-ended each volume with comic-pages to deliver as much punch as possible. I’d never been so busy; drawing, designing, art-directing and scrutinizing my own work until the final pages were sent to print.

It was an exceptional experience to work on something so unique with such a talented team of people.
