Its as much as you can simplify something very elaborate and unnecessary overloaded to keep both yourself and the client happy that shows the real mapping skill. Im still learning and struggling when it comes to organizing clutter that can be thrown away in my opinion.
But one should always consider the clients needs especially when redesigning long established website or brand. Where is that line where new design starts to go too far from what long established users are used to seeing? Or should one just ignore the outdated experience? These are the questions of balance i constantly ask myself when getting into a project.
