Beltane Fire Festival
This full page illustration for Counterpoint Magazine’s magic issue is for Sam Bradley’s article on the Beltane Fire Festival. My image pictures Edinburgh’s Sailsburys Crags and Arthur’s Seat back when the Celtic calendar was widely followed. Fires were lit on high points across the land, and cattle were moved as part of the fertility rituals. The celebration would begin on the last day of April, through the night and into the 1st of May. May Day celebrations stem from this important pagan festival.
Risograph printed using Teal and Neon Pink, original textures are from trace monotype which were edited on Ps6.
