Tongkonan's House from Toraja

Tongkonan in Toraja language is defined as a seat (tongkon = sitting). Tongkonan is a traditional Toraja house on stilts in the form of a rectangle. Made as a house on stilts, so that residents are not easily disturbed by wild animals.

Tongkonan architecture is known for its distinctive shape through the lower, middle and upper structures which have the aesthetic beauty of the structure and construction. The structural system and construction of Tongkonan architecture is a separate structural system between the bottom (sulluk banua), the middle (kale banua), and the roof (rantiang banua). Each part has a different structure and construction system.
