Sewing Time | Rebrand (Part 3)

Sewing Time is a small family business based in Sydney’s Baulkham Hills, where they run term classes and holiday learn-to-sew workshops for children and adults. The founder Irene has a 30 year background in the fashion industry and started Sewing Time in 2016. She loves encouraging students to use their creative flair and let their personalities shine in the projects they sew.

Irene made my mother’s wedding dress, so when she asked me to help rebrand Sewing Time I said yes immediately. She wanted a look that puts a timeless modern spin on vintage fashion. After I lay out a few options, the logo pictured encapsulated the colours, elegance and craftsmanship Irene wanted for the rebrand.

I was fortunate enough to have a lot of freedom to experiment on the job, which is something not many junior graphic designers are able to do so early on. My role spanned from designing a SquareSpace website, various logo, stationery and packing tissue options, to planning out studio signage with @personalised_and_made_by_me, instagram content, and preparations for the eventual launch of sewing kits. Additionally, my younger sister Meredith @mepdesigns, who assistant teaches at Sewing Time, brought the studio to life by making a stunning set of bunting to hang!

We had originally planned to launch in January 2020, but the launch was delayed until April 2020 due to the pandemic. Although we were under the pump to launch during the pandemic, the rebrand was so incredibly well received by old and new clients. Even Irene tells me she still gets excited tingles going into the studio!
