Dude

Last night my mom called me a little choked up and asked me of a favor. She’s a realtor down in SW Florida and she has a client she’s helping today whose son passed away not too long ago. She asked me if I would draw his son so she could print it and gift it to him. I knew in her shaky voice she had put herself in his shoes, thinking if that were her own son.

As I went through some reference photos and started drawing, I couldn’t help but think about this person I was drawing who I knew nothing about, not even his name. It seems we liked the same things, motorcycles, tattoos, dogs, our families. I thought of his family and how they are feeling and how tough it must be. It inspired me thinking that this drawing could maybe bring a tiny bit of joy to someone’s life. Hopefully it does.

It’s no doubt these are challenging times, especially on our mental health. Be sure to check in on one another. There’s so many ways of connecting without the risk of getting covid. Be creative. Be kind. Let’s keep an eye out for one another and get through this together. ✌🏻
