LADY OF SHALOTT BELGIAN WALL TAPESTRY

Lady of Shalott is a Belgian jacquard wall tapestry depicting the amazing work of John William Waterhouse from 1888. A scene from Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem from 1832 of the Lady who loved Sir Lancelot that is filled with poignant emotion. We see the Lady escaping from a tower along the river during a storm, sailing towards Camelot. She was under an enchantment, forbidding her to look at the world directly. Instead she was to look with a mirror and to create what she saw in a tapestry. The sumptuous color and composition in this work, details her ornate boat, the beautiful illumination of the Lady Shalott's white gown, the marsh reeds, and a tapestry which accompanies her down the river. The perfect piece to add to your home decor motif.
