Quill Big Sur App Icon

One of the first thing I was able to do when I came aboard Quill was to think about what Big Sur would mean for the app icon. This lead to questioning the fundamental metaphor and some quick drafts made in Sketch. We eventually landed back where we started, that the feather and bubble with three dots is a good metaphor.

This (final?) version is part Cinema 4D for the chat bubble, which is reflecting a modelled version of the feather. The actual feather is made in Photoshop, and I added some extra texture to the feather which also gets adapted depending on resolution.

The original icon is made by non other than Gedeon Maheux of The Iconfactory. I also had a 3D modelled version made by Mikael Eidenberg at my disposal. Standing on the shoulders of giants!
