Did you know that sarees are between 4-9 meters in length? They are typically wrapped around the waist, with one end draped over the shoulder. Because the midriff is often exposed, they are usually worn with a fitted shirt underneath called a choli.

The dot adorning the forehead, called a bindi, is a Hindu tradition often used to denote a married woman. However, its usage is also symbolic of the third eye and used to ward off bad luck. One use that is inappropriate: Westerners wearing Bindis as fashion accessories.
