Quipao Dress | Li Na

For this next design, we move to China!

The Cheongsam (or the Quipao in Mandarin) is a form-fitting Chinese dress with a distinct collar originating in the 1600s. It gained renewed popularity in the 1920s, particularly among upper-class women in Shanghai. The original designs were much loser fitting, often worn with pants beneath with modest slits—compared to the more sensual, westernized designs of today.
