What's the idea behind that dirty texture?

@Farzad Ban The background has a subtle texture similar to that of a cover of a passport, and the silver castle has a foil-like texture. (It's definitely more appropriate on-device.)

@Louie Mantia Do you think people will get that?

@Farzad Ban Do they have to? It definitely seems to makes the icon feel better. The fabric-ey material especially.

@Newar I don't feel the texture at all. But I seem to be the only one.

@Farzad Ban I dig the texture on the blue but agree with you about the texture on the castle. It definitely looks dirty. Maybe it looks more like the desired look on the actual device.

Leave it to the master to demonstrate how a 'cleaner' aesthetic can be used while still maintaining a lot of rich and subtle detail. So great.

This looks great so far Louie. I never cared about Disneyland before, but following your work for many years turned into a believer, lol.

@Farzad Ban I'm not digging it either. Could be more a preference, but to me it looks more like brushed metal than a foil texture akin to something like a passport…

Hey guys. Thing about foil: It works mostly as you see it catch light. Creating a static image with it will never look right, as it's not moving.

We realized this when we were working on Card Case at Square. We made hologram images but they didn't look right unless while you tilted your device the image rotated through colors. Similarly, foil will never look "right" unless it is manipulated by the light in your environment.

I'm not saying this is the best (or even the best I could do), and maybe this will change in the future to be rendered differently as we expand this app out, but again, on device I think it looks pretty good! Can't wait for you guys to have it on your phones!

  22. For all you WDW fans out there, Magic Passport for the Walt Disney World Resort is now available!

    Let the adventure begin!

There are some subtle differences here:
    1. BG Color — Anaheim's castle has more teal-roofed castle turrets. Orlando's has a more blue tint.
    2. Orlando's castle is taller than Anaheim's, so the center spire is taller here.
    3. Flat topped roof. Where Anaheim has a pointed center roof above the archway, Orlando has a flat topped roof above their clock.
