One of the biggest issues having translucent buttons over images, is having it blend-in with the backgrounds. So one of the solutions was to use a blur effect that iOS7 provides to use the background and overlaying it with a color tint. This way regardless of what background/image you have it will adapt and still add a purple tint, on top. Checkout the following results:
