the bahi katha

The Bahi Katha is a book that unveils many unsung stories and tales about the handbound red colored bahi khata (register) mostly stitched in white, that adds value to the overall outlook of the book. There used to be a time when people had no other option left than using it for maintaining their accounts, yet it seemed useful for them as their businesses went well and that might be the reason some people consider it lucky even today. This book is actually a documentation of the age old craft which includes it’s making, its cultural significance and some interesting stories around it. It’s high time people should again start practicing these age old techniques switching from computers and other gadgets, else it will lose it’s identity just like most arts/crafts in India that have banished from the society with time.
