WA’s Women’s Hall of Fame Inductees

I recently had the absolute pleasure and privilege of partnering with Development WA, Screenswest, Yagan Square, Lottery West and the WA’s Women’s Hall of Fame to illustrate some of the states leading trail-blazing women.

These incredible women have smashed through ceilings in their industries to set a president for future generations and making enormous strides in their industries/specialties.

Each and every women was an inspiration to me, but personally one in particular stood out the most: Gina Williams. Gina wrote the welcome song “Wanjoo” to teach herself and her children some words of welcome from Noongar country. Since its humble beginnings the song has been taught to more than 75,000 people through workshops and school across Australia. The song morphed into a book which was published in 2016, Wanjoo: The Welcome Song.

My children recently learnt the song through school and absolutely love it. And I love the fact that they have a connection to country and ancestry of our great South Land and the people that have a rich history in it. It’s like we are all now woven together in our beautiful tapestry.
