Coventry University Students’ Union Elections 2020

As a democratic organisation, elections play a large role in the activities of Coventry University Students’ Union (CUSU). The purpose of the re-brand was to better engage students throughout the elections processes, increase students’ understanding of the election process and the role of the Officers, as well as increase the number of students taking an active role in leading and changing elements of the Union/University.

Whilst the elections are the focus, the brand can be extended to cover all decision-making activity at CUSU. Elements of the identity permeate through to other areas, such as the Student Council, Conferences, Student Training in order to back to the voting process and bring consistency to all democratic campaigns.

The brand needed to look clean and slick while echoing the professionalism required for the roles. As the elections process can be complicated, the simplicity of the identity was key to inform and enthused the students to take part in the elections. The assets emphasized the impact that engaging in these processes can have, and focused on the change that can be made.

CUSU Spring Elections 2020 were a great success with 6,488 students casting 34,922 votes for 36 different positions!
