I've created a process how design system can serve multiple brands or sub brands within one core design system.
I use Figma for create this type of design system and the outputs are contains 2 file:
the DS .fig file and
a .json file for all of the tokens what you can use not only to create the UI screens, but to help the developers work with the design system on their side.
This approach helps you to stay consistent, keep every brand essential resources in one file and create UI screens faster for all brand and sub brands (technically 1 or 2 clicks)
