Director of Product Design

High Alpha is hiring key team members for an exciting new B2B SaaS startup. This position will be with High Alpha’s latest company, which is currently in stealth mode. You’ll be one of the very first employees and will initially report directly to the CEO, while working closely with the internal High Alpha team. If you’ve ever been interested in working at a company from scratch this is it!  

As the Director of Product Design, you’ll lead all design initiatives across the entire spectrum of work. You will have the unique opportunity to be a creator, builder, and innovator. This new company is obsessed with learning from customers and passionate about finding and solving their problems. You will be at the table as they listen to and learn from them. You will help translate these findings into beautiful, functional designs and world-class products. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Work directly with the team to create products that deliver meaningful experiences for partners and customers.
  • Collaborate with other team members to give and receive thoughtful feedback on creative work.
  • Create high fidelity designs for digital product experiences and work closely with engineering to see that designs are implemented to spec.
  • Present and explain design ideas and concepts with confidence.
  • Assist in leading ideation sessions.
  • Participate in team working sessions to research and validate potential new feature ideas.
  • Manage, summarize, and present potential customer and/or expert interview discovery calls.
  • Visualize potential new product functionality through wire-framing and storyboarding.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 7-10 years of professional design experience.
  • Ability to take lead and complete ownership over tasks and projects from start to finish.
  • Well networked within design communities and able to recruit and add talent to your team.
  • A thoughtfully-presented portfolio that demonstrates a refined aesthetic, the ability to think conceptually, and excellent visual communication skills.
  • Desire to flex to all areas of design to support initial company growth.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in design research methods.
  • Genuine curiosity and a strong desire to continuously learn and grow.
  • Proven experience creating high-fidelity designs in Sketch, Illustrator, etc.
  • A strong and thoughtfully presented portfolio of work with a refined aesthetic.
