Senior Designer & Illustrator

Position Summary.

As a Senior Designer & Illustrator, your primary responsibility is to bring an elevated visual design aesthetic and conceptual thought process to Revery projects through 2D/3D illustration, graphic design, and design for motion. You are a creative self-starter with strong communication skills and a flexible thinker who thrives in collaborative environments.

The Senior Designer & Illustrator will predominantly work on custom 2D/3D illustrations for the Google account, a tightly-knit team whose core function is storytelling through collaborative concepting, illustration, and design content. At times you will also support studio-wide projects.

Revery is based in Portland, OR and Los Angeles, CA and operates on a hybrid in-studio / work-from-home model. This is a full-time position open to candidates in Oregon and California.

What You’ll Do.

• Display an exceptional sense of visual design with an elevated aesthetic.

• Generate compelling creative ideas and bring them to life from concept to completion.

• Help define concepts, develop treatments, create prototypes, and inform art direction.

• Focus on brand system design and implementation, illustration, and complex storyboards.

• Bring design consistency across brand identity efforts and motion video deliverables.

• Collaborate closely with producers, creative directors, designers, writers, and animators.

• Demonstrate the ability to be proactive, innovative, detail-driven, and curious.

• Work in a highly-collaborative, low-ego environment.

Specific Responsibilities.

• Be part of an embedded team at Google, offering ongoing, custom 2D/3D illustration and design work for campaigns and stand-alone assets.

• Think conceptually about brand identity work and convey through the presentation of ideas.

• Create design systems including logos, fonts, colors, graphic treatments, swag, and templates, within the established guidelines of parent companies.

• Play a lead role in motion video projects with design elements including title sequences, storyboards, illustrations, animation concepts, and typography treatments.

• Have a strong POV on design and how it manifests within the holistic creative.

• Provide constructive feedback to designers through regular internal reviews.

• Work closely with our project teams to establish the roadmap for projects, offering insight into timelines and overall project approach.

Overall Qualifications.

• 5+ years of illustration and 2D/3D design experience at an agency or in-house.

• Relevant portfolio pieces that showcase illustration, brand identity work, and design for motion.

• Possess strong storytelling skills with an ability to generate multiple, unique directions.

• Strong communication skills and an ability to articulate ideas and present creative work.

• Ability to work proficiently both autonomously and in highly collaborative environments to maintain creative excellence in a fast-paced landscape.

• Organize and prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and keep projects moving forward.

• A desire to push boundaries, figure out new technologies, and apply your learnings to make excellent work.

• Able to work effectively with remote team members.

• Strong organization around media management.

• Proficiency in Adobe CC and Figma.

• Experience working with tech clients and product development is a plus.
