Creative Director

Cultivate is a talent development studio that is human centered, action oriented and design forward. We work with some of the world’s largest companies to create immersive learning experiences that empower people to bring their best and full selves to work.  

We are seeking a fractional Creative Director to lead creative initiatives for our client engagements and for our internal initiatives. We are looking for someone who is hands on, flexible, and can lead groundbreaking creative initiatives that resonate deeply with our clients and drive meaningful business outcomes.  

We highly value design-forward approaches that can be incorporated into the corporate tools of our clients and seek a person who can move seamlessly between design tools and PowerPoint. Our brand guide is built around Helvetica, and when working with clients, we often marry our design aesthetic with their corporate branding requirements.  

We are looking for someone with at least eight years of experience who can be available for roughly ten hours a week on a flexible, contract basis to start, with the potential to increase as our needs grow. This is a hands-on role; this person will be responsible for producing deliverables. 


  • Take full responsibility for creative design projects from inception to completion, engaging in an inclusive design process, and ensuring the final product aligns seamlessly with client objectives, project goals and brand identity. 

  • Create human-centered designs that prioritize accessibility, meaning, and user experience, considering the diverse needs, behaviors, preferences, and unique perspectives of users throughout the design process. 

  • Translate abstract and/or complex concepts into accessible, meaningful narratives and designs that effectively communicate messages. 

  • Create visually appealing and effective designs using typography, language, copywriting, imagery, illustration, color, and layout to convey specific messages or concepts. 

  • Produce visually compelling content across various multimedia platforms and mediums, integrating graphic design, animation, video, and other elements. 

  • Develop a compelling visual identity for a brand (if creating new) or align with an existing visual identity, ensuring all design elements resonate with the brand's values, message, and personality. 

  • Craft compelling and creative written content that aligns with the brand's voice, resonates with the target audience, and communicates the desired message. 

Example initiatives this person would lead could include:  

  • Develop a marketing campaign for a new employee community launch 

  • Create a brand for a leadership development program we are building for a client 

  • Create a proposal deck for a prospective client in partnership with our professional services team 

  • Redesign our website 


  • Proven experience as a Creative Director or in a similar leadership role; startup experience is desired. 

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative and impactful creative design work. 

  • In-depth knowledge of human-centered design principles, multimedia platforms, and emerging design technologies. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to understand and represent client needs. 

  • Familiarity with talent development or related industries is a plus.
