Founding Designer

About you

We are looking for a founding designer who’s excited to reinvent interaction with AI and enable the next generation of software powered by AI—we can teach you the AI, as we’ve taught over 100k people around the world.

You’ll be working directly with the founders and the frontend engineering team, influencing the product direction, and playing a key role in leadership discussions.

Most of all, we’re looking for someone who is eager to iterate fast on new interfaces, craves ambiguity and lack of process, and is hungry to invent the new landscape of AI.

Qualifications

  • Skills: You have high-quality product, visual, interaction design and details. You have a track record of making both beautiful and usable designs.

  • Collaborative: You like working collaboratively with a high degree of interaction with an in-person team, rather than on your own or remotely. You really enjoy whiteboarding and ideating together with non-design team members with rapid and continuous feedback.

  • Loves lack of process: You like the lack of structure and the lack of processes. This environment is optimized for enabling you to move fast and think creatively.

  • Loves ambiguity: Early-stage startups have a lot of uncertainty in priorities and day-to-day work. You’ll go in circles, throw out designs, revive old designs — all the time. Requirements change rapidly and you like to participate in (re)formulating them. We’re building something entirely new and this ambiguity really excites you.

  • Loves feedback: You like to both give and receive a lot of feedback. You love the challenge and rise up to it. You want to be the key decision maker (bypass official processes like sign-offs) on what feedback is important, in order to move quickly.

  • Loves fast pace: Fast iteration, every half hour or hour, not days or weeks or months. You like getting to “good enough”, over striving for perfection.

  • Loves to think out of the box: We need people who are a bit different, who break the norm, because those are the most creative people we’ve worked with who can invent new user experiences.

  • Have empathy for software engineers (user persona)

  • Previously worked at an early-stage (seed or Series A) startup or another fast-paced, unstructured environment.

  • We love learning and teaching! So, an interest in learning from others, teaching others, and not being scared to dig into new challenges is a huge plus.
