Senior Product Designer

Description of Role

You are a skilled UX designer and hacker at heart who is constantly learning, improving and unlocking solutions creatively.  You have the ability to thrive in ambiguity and are adept at pivoting when priorities shift.

This is a new position at Wild Alaskan Company, and you will collaborate closely with the digital product team. By contributing to the process development and execution of product design, you’ll play a pivotal role in the growth of Wild Alaskan’s business. You will partner cross-functionally with technical and nontechnical stakeholders and understand how your designs impact their workflow and the business. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Help build  and continuously improve a product design process that’s highly collaborative and inclusive through your experience of various strategic tools: from user research to virtual white-boarding sessions to fully-equipped prototypes and everything in between

  • Bring design from start to launch through conducting customer interview, using design software and making the designs real by collaborating with engineering and contributing to codebase with HTML CSS & JS

  • Help lead a user research process that’s appropriately tailored to the complexity of the corresponding initiative

  • Create sketches, wireframes and high fidelity prototypes that reflect product requirements and meet the user’s needs

  • Work closely with creative, growth & lifecycle, product, data science & analytics and engineering teams to suss out quick-win UX improvements across all purchase and engagement funnels

  • Be a proactive collaborator who listens to team ideas, offering their own and synthesizing conversations into strategic product directions

  • Develop and maintain design component library and UX copy guidelines, adhering the company to standards for a consistent user experience

  • Coach, mentor and provide feedback to product designers across various work streams to consistently deliver designs that are on spec

  • Collaborate closely with engineering to deliver designs that are consistently executable and scalable through working knowledge of CSS and HTML

  • Stay up to date with the newest technologies and methodologies, and seize opportunities to advance the product design stack + frameworks in order to improve the product design process

  • Stay up to date with broader creative and content team strategies and find opportunities to Invite collaboration into digital product design process

  • Evangelize design thinking across the organization in multiple forums, including monthly all-hands and cross-functional sessions

  • Attend the product weekly and contribute to the continuous improvement around how the creative team communicates and operates

  • Ensure all user journeys remain cohesive and delightful

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Hands-on product design experience

  • Significant experience working with design teams (UI/UX, user researchers, UX writers, etc.)

  • Hands-on user research experience

  • 2+ years of hands-on UI and UX experience

  • eCommerce subscription design experience

  • Ability to make design accessible to non-designers

  • Can quickly adapt to and apply feedback

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects 

  • Ability to juggle multiple initiatives at once

  • Open-minded, empathetic and flexible to different styles of working

  • Excited to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

  • Well-versed in design tools like Figma

  • Front-end development and/or site analytics experience

Nice to Haves

  • High-degree of comfort with A/B testing platforms

  • Passion for sustainability

  • Experience with Asana

  • Familiarity with landing page software, like Webflow

The starting salary range for this position is $100,000 - $155,000, commensurate with skills and experience. Wild Alaskan’s benefits package includes health, vision, and dental insurance, a 401k, PTO, safe/sick time, vacation, parental leave and more, as well as a delicious box of free fish every month.
