UX/UI Designer Lead

Job description

Great Minds, a rapidly growing organization developing world class curricula for PK-12, seeks a UX/UI Designer Lead to join our dynamic, dedicated team. Our mission is to ensure all students have access to a quality education and the full range of liberal arts and sciences.

The uncompromising curriculum from Great Minds assumes that every child is capable of greatness. We bring teachers and scholars together to craft exemplary instructional materials that inspire joy in teaching and learning. Our English curriculum, Wit & Wisdom®, Eureka Math™, and PhD Science™, all give school teachers what they need to take students beyond rote learning to provide a deeper, more complete understanding of the humanities, mathematics, and the sciences.

As a UX/UI Designer Lead, you'll work closely with product, content, and technical teams to develop intuitive, innovative digital experiences for teachers and students. You’ll have a knack for designing interfaces that highlight complex, rich content. Additionally, you are equally as comfortable drawing up a sketch in design thinking sessions as you are observing end-users to gather feedback on interactive prototypes. You understand the digital world today's kids navigate through and are thoughtful about developing purposeful user experiences. You are a strong communicator, passionate about K-12 education and ready to be a hands-on contributor in a growing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in design collaborations to define user experience and user interfaces.
  • Turn concepts into user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes and mocks that lead to innovative user experiences on a wide range of devices and interface.
  • Prepare wireframes and concepts for content-heavy editorial projects.
  • Conduct user research and usability tests, using feedback and metrics to modify designs.
  • Collaborate with visual designers and technical teams to implement and release user experiences.
  • Deeply understand and advocate for the needs of our student and educator users.
  • Understand customer and end-user needs, business requirements and technical constraints.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of hands-on user experience design.
  • Experience conducting concept and usability tests to gather feedback.
  • Experience using industry standard software (Sketch, InVision) to create deliverables (wireframes, prototypes, mocks).
  • Excellent organizational, presentation and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • Interest in K-12 education, with classroom/teaching experience and/or EdTech design experience a plus.

Selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
