Senior UX/UI Product Designer
Understood.org is seeking a Sr UX/UI Product Designer who can help shape the future product experiences for our understood Parents, Educators and Young Adults. As an integral part of the digital team, the designer should be a highly motivated self-starter who can help design engaging and inspiring digital experiences across platforms and devices. The designer should also be a strong conceptual thinker who is comfortable with synthesizing complex ideas and turn them into simple and elegant solutions. This role reports to the Director of UX/UI Design.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering Teams on delivering high quality product experiences
- Understand user needs, motivations and behaviors to derive user requirements and translate into concrete product concepts or features
- Prepare and present rough drafts design ideas effectively to internal teams and key stakeholder
- Brainstorm, sketch, wireframe, and prototype product designs
- Create appropriate deliverables for different types of projects, e.g. site or application map, user flows, storyboards, wireframes, visual design comps
- Create new UI elements while adhering to the visual style standards.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- BS/BA in Design, HCI or related degree preferred
- 5-8 years’ experience as a product designer, interface designer, interaction designer or a similar role
- Experience designing cross-platform and device digital products
- Experience with design software and wireframe tools, e.g. Adobe Suite, Sketch or Figma, etc
- Experience with prototyping tools, e.g. InVision
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, and other web technologies
- Portfolio of professional design projects that includes work with web/mobile applications
- Experience with consumer and/or EdTech digital products a plus
- Experience working with Design Systems a plus
