UI/UX Designer

Position Summary

The UI/UX designer is responsible for Caliper’s platform web- and user-experience design. The UI/UX designer will create wire frames, branding and graphic development of web applications, create UI prototypes, customer analysis, support development planning of Caliper’s applications, and coordination with developers. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Business Support

  • Serve as a resource for team members to discuss and develop new UI/UX designs.
  • Proactively meet with team members to analyze branding and competitive analysis.
  • Conduct conference calls with team members and clients to identify problems and suggest solutions. 
  • Coordinate with developers on designs to drive implementation.
  • Draft written proposals based on information gathered from clients and team members and gain approval from appropriate team members to send proposal to client.
  • Visit with clients, if necessary, to present options and persuade key stakeholders to accept recommendations.
  • Identify next steps to assist client (uncover future opportunities).


Delivery of Products/Services

  • Serves as liaison between technology and product design, as well as internal project management, marketing, and service.
  • Designs and oversees execution of story lines, user guides, wire frames, prototypes, branding and graphic development.
  • Creates, implements, and evaluates customer UX methods/metrics that support customer research in such content areas as user enjoyment, design effectiveness, design gaps/opportunities, brand success, etc.
  • Evaluate effectiveness, value, and ROI of developments.
  • Evaluates software and hardware tools and may advise and assist in the selection and installment of tools. 
  • Develops and aligns testing and iteration protocols with design objectives and direction.
  • Takes lead in creating and delivering of any written materials and presentations related to application design and brand.
  • Makes formal and informal presentations to clients regarding methods, current disposition, results, implications, and next steps for direction of user experience development.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction: Serve as point of contact for clients during delivery process to answer any questions or concerns as they arise.
  • Provide technical assistance, training and/or coaching to delivery personnel.
  • Participates in ongoing professional activities to keep up to date with latest trends in UI applications and UX.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in UX or visual design (UI) or related field
  • Three or more (3+) years’ experience conducting user experience research
  • Must have a portfolio of work demonstrating creative branding, innovative designs, and practical usability of application designs

 

Technical Skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite required - Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Knowledge of design tools.
  • Ability to learn and utilize additional software packages.
