Visual Designer

In a noisy world, deep listening is a radical act:

At Loup, we believe in the power of feedback from the most important people in the universe: the people you serve. We help organizations build stronger “feedback loops” with the humans that matter most — whether they're end users, customers, stakeholders or staff.

We’re looking for a visual designer to join our team:

You will create and utilize a range of design elements to translate words into powerful insights and communications assets, and use your design thinking to help grow our organization.

Loup is an early-stage startup with a growing list of clients. This is a part-time freelance position that combines work for Loup and client work. We will work with you to define deliverables and timeframes. That said, design is integral to our work and we plan to grow this into permanent position.

What you have:

  • Passion for human-centered design and collaborative work
  • A portfolio of design work with examples of both digital and print products
  • Experience creating, using, and maintaining/evolving style guides
  • Skill with professional-grade design and prototyping tools (e.g. Sketch, Figma, Marvel, Adobe Creative Suite) — as well as a willingness to work in G Suite or Microsoft Office and other similar apps when needed
  • Motion graphics or web animation skills are not required, but useful
  • Interest in developing designs for merch and environments (like events) a plus
  • Eagerness to learn, expand your skills, and try new tools
  • A design outlook inspired by play, joy, and culture

What you will do:

  • Revamp Loup’s existing branding and design a consistent, comprehensive visual presence
  • Develop a style guide and a set of visual assets and templates
  • Develop a workflow and templates to advance Loup’s digital media strategy, with a focus on quickly and cost-effectively producing new assets and activating key channels (may include sourcing/managing remote vendors)
  • For Loup client deliverables, create a hackable, templatized, visual delivery system to transform StoryEngine.io interview content into a range of visual and multimedia assets (text, images, audio, video)
  • Use the templates and workflows you create to deliver final design files for print, web, and social
  • Envision and produce creative, design-based interactions to delight and inspire current and future clients
  • Contribute ideas about how Loup can use design to grow as an organization and develop additional revenue streams
  • Work collaboratively with clients, other designers, and the Loup team

Location:

The Loup team is distributed across North America including Washington DC, Brooklyn and Victoria, Canada. This is a remote-friendly position and we accept international applicants.

Schedule:

This is currently a flexible, freelance position. Schedule will be determined with the successful candidate.

How to apply:

Send a note, your CV, and your portfolio (as an attachment or a link).

If you are deeply interested in design, please don’t hesitate to apply even if your experience and skills don’t perfectly match our ideal credentials. We aim to hire a person who will become an integral member of the Loup team and we support expanding our skills through our work.

We are committed to diversity and especially encourage members of underrepresented communities to apply.
