About the role

You’ll be joining our internal agency – the Content and Creative Team – supporting our award-winning marketing function and working alongside product designers to help us revolutionise the travel experience. The goals are ambitious, and the mandate is clear – to make travel more personal and journeys smarter. Your challenge will be to help turn this mission from vision into reality. 

We’re proud of the journey across all digital platforms so far, but a major focus for us in 2019 is internationalising our business. We're evolving our brand identity in all markets, both UK and continental Europe, covering our consumer, business and ancillary products, and that's where you come in.

You’ll help tell the Trainline story through great marketing, communications and product experiences. Enhancing our visual identity, you’ll understand the challenges of going global while still maintaining a local presence. You’ll develop and drive our brand proposition from a design perspective, owning and managing the brand while being the single point of accountability on all things brand design. 

The creation of visual frameworks and guidelines are fundamental to the team’s proposition, and you will lead this while collaborating with the broader Design team to ensure that Product and Marketing are aligned on strategic goals. In addition, you will craft compelling visual designs for web and mobile and produce beautiful illustrations and iconography. 

Experience

We’re looking for creative big thinkers with small egos who want to build relevant and long-lasting experiences on behalf of our millions of customers. You’ll know what great looks like and drive towards that relentlessly, whether it’s through creative direction or by being completely hands-on, executing your ideas or supporting those of others. You have experience mentoring and managing junior/middleweight designers to ensure their skills keep evolving and you know how and when to delegate work.

You must demonstrate a strong sense of brand awareness and pixel-perfect attention to detail. Bringing an excellent understanding of layout, typography, visual hierarchy and colour, you’ll be an expert in Adobe software. Experience in Sketch, video editing and motion is a major plus.

The challenge before this team is immense and exciting, but you will need to have a roll-your-sleeves-up-and-do-whatever-it-takes mentality. We work at pace, and so you must be comfortable with working in a fast-moving, pressurised environment while managing the expectations of multiple stakeholders.
