Do you want to solve complex problems and deliver real change?

Are you ready to lead a team that creates digital products with purpose?

Do you love working shoulder-to-shoulder with development teams to create intelligent solutions?

We believe that everybody deserves great design.

Formed of a close-knit team of engineers, designers, developers, technologists and researchers, we go further than just ideas and concepts, delivering finished products at pace and with technical excellence.

With an exciting pipeline of projects ahead, the Mettle team is expanding its digital design offering and looking for talented new team members who are driven by a desire to make a real, long-lasting impact.

As a Senior Digital Designer, you will:

  • Lead deep-dive UX and UI design sprints: generating ideas, prototyping concepts, testing with users, and detailing designs
  • Collaborate with Mettle’s and clients’ software development teams to bring products to life
  • Manage and mentor junior team members
  • Play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining large scale digital design systems
  • Maintain an ecosystem that includes over 9 products, an admin system, support centre and a product home
  • Undertake user research and create outcomes that fulfil users’ needs
  • Drive continuous improvement to process both within Mettle and beyond
  • Oversee project budgets and timelines to ensure the effective
delivery of projects
  • Keep up-to-date with product and industry trends
  • Be proactive in new business development: building networks and contributing to pitches and proposals
  • Lead communication and relationship building with clients and partners
  • Contribute to thought leadership on topics that align to your personal passions

We are looking for you to have:

  • A great portfolio of work that showcases your skills and experience in digital, UI and/or UX design; as well as any complementary technical or creative skills
  • At least 4 years of experience; ideally within the design of digital products
  • An appreciation of the entire product development process: from understanding user needs & pains and mapping out user journeys through to delivering detailed UI and visual designs ready for development
  • A great ability to navigate complexity and engage with technical detail
  • Excellent levels of attention-to-detail
  • Excellent proficiency in digital design & prototyping software (we’re using Figma and Miro)
  • Very strong visual, verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team including product managers and software developers
  • Experience understanding and working with comprehensive UI design systems
  • Experience engaging directly with clients; guiding them through well-reasoned, rational and calm discussions

It’s also nice to have:

  • Experience in workshop and Design Sprint facilitation
  • Familiarity with front-end development languages or frameworks (such as HTML/CSS/JS, React, Django)
  • Experience in no-code development (such as Webflow)
  • A passion for sustainability and/or accessibility
