Sr. Art Director (Gaming)

Do you judge games by their covers? Do you follow an unhealthy number of artists? Do you often think “this could be weirder and/or use a touch more anime”? Do you feel at home with big-time nerds? If so, read on.

COLOR is a young creative agency dedicated to creating, destroying, rising from the ashes, destroying, and then creating again.

We’re in need of a talented, passionate, ego-free Senior Art Director with a strong aesthetic and unique point of view to lead the gaming team to visual nirvana.

And if the above didn’t make it obvious, a love for and strong familiarity with games of all stripes is a must!


WHAT YOU'LL NEED

+ Fluency in Illustrator and Photoshop

+ Strong design skills and an eye for detail

+ Experience with AAA game studios or big entertainment brands

+ Knowledge of and respect for strict brand guidelines and IP rules

+ Strong emphasis on layout, typography, and type fundamentals

+ Understanding of modern design, composition/layout, and color selection

+ Strong communication skills and a willingness to ask questions

+ Ability to work under pressure/tight turnarounds calmly

+ Ability to easily switch gears between projects

+ Ability to clearly direct a small team and maintain motivation

+ Ability to present ideas to clients and pivot as needed on the fly

+ Experience working directly with a Creative Director for reviews and guidance

+ And the big first step: a killer portfolio that demonstrates design, art direction, creative deck work, and personality

BONUS ROUND

+ Background in game art

+ Familiarity with After Effects

+ Familiarity with 3D process and Cinema 4D

+ General understanding of game engines like Unity and Unreal


WHAT YOU'LL DO

+ Lead a growing team of designers and animators

+ Art direct for motion design, events, live-action, campaigns, digital, web/interactive (heavily slanted towards motion and gameplay)

+ Work with a CD and copywriter to take concepts from pitch to final

+ Put together creative decks that clearly outline and justify concepts and art direction

+ Create designed/illustrated style frames as needed

+ Work with producers, copywriters, creative directors and creative leads

+ Work from home, and eventually in-office
