Senior UX/UI Designer

Well-funded and with an experienced leadership team, we plan to grow rapidly over the course of 2022, and are searching for a leader of the nascent UX/UI team.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, the Senior UX/UI Designer will lead UX/UI design for the Teachers1on1 multi-platform web application, collaborating with the Product team to build end-to-end user journeys from initial research through to detailed UI design and validation. In addition, the Senior UX/UI Designer will manage workflow and resource allocation of the in-house Design team, including balancing Design support across both Product and Marketing.

This position is based in Culver City, CA and applicants should reside in the area or be relocating prior to start of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Reports to the CPO, oversees in house Product design team and supports Marketing team.
  • Owns the quality of the user experience across the Teachers1on1 web application and future native implementations, working with the Product team to rationalize the Product roadmap to balance feature development with intuitive, transformative experiences
  • Collaborates with CMO and CPO to create market/customer research programs to unearth insights into the challenges facing teachers, parents and students in remote 1-on-1 learning situations
  • Works with CPO, Engineering team, Product team and Design team, as well as agencies and other external partners to ideate and implement new features and experiences
  • Spearheads look & feel of the brand on and off platform, from spec-scoping, to conceptualization and production of assets
  • Primary focus will be: platform UI/UX across all screen resolutions and devices, including appropriate style guide development
  • Experience with data driven design, utilizing experience analytics and user behavior insights to prioritize and influence design decisions
  • Responsible for establishing creative workflow, must be able to generate project/design briefs and gather necessary information/resources to complete the ask
  • Develop a deep understanding and unique visual POV for the brand
  • Build brand guidelines, effectively communicate standards to internal team and external partners
  • Effectively communicate with management on status of Design projects and areas of escalations
  • Other duties as assigned by CEO/CPO/CMO

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year college degree
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in UX/UI design
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in product design for web or native applications
  • Minimum 2 years experience brand/visual design in digital executions
  • Expert in: Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe XD
  • Experience working with national or globally recognized brands, preferably in education, toys, tech, lifestyle
  • Ability to train and manage efficiently and effectively
  • Excellent organization skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Must be a self-starter, entrepreneurial-minded and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working with product delivery tools such as Trello, Jira, clubhouse, etc. required
