Sr. Visual Designer

Delivering great user experiences is one of the core values upon which Recurly has been built. Whether it’s designing a marketing web page or crafting the user interface our customers rely on to run their businesses, the Design Team is involved at every step. We’re responsible for creating the brand promise customers have in their first interaction with Recurly and ensuring we deliver on that promise in the product itself.

Subscription businesses around the world rely on our product every day to secure critical billing information, invoice and communicate with their customers, and evaluate their reporting data. It’s crucial that our brand and product experience communicate confidence and credibility at every step.

As a Senior Visual Designer at Recurly, you’ll be responsible for extending the creative vision of the Recurly brand. You’ll work closely with a small team of talented designers and marketers to create engaging brand experiences across a variety of channels, including the main Recurly website as well as landing pages, emails, advertisements, and print collateral.

You’ll also help extend our brand guidelines to manage our steady growth, keeping all of our brand touchpoints consistent and beautiful. And of course you’ll get to take part in internal projects like designing the next Recurly t-shirt, poster, or event, as well as advising on interior design decisions in our office. But you won’t do it alone. You’ll work as a partner with marketing, product, and other designers to bring it all to life.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute as a top-notch visual designer and illustrator to create marketing content for our website, microsites, landing pages, white papers, print brochures, and trade show collateral
  • Collaborate closely with front-end engineers to ensure your designs are implemented precisely
  • Develop creative concepts for marketing programs to meet business goals and further the brand
  • Partner with all parts of the organization including marketing, sales, recruiting, product, and support to maintain a consistent brand experience
  • Maintain and extend the Recurly style guide and brand guidelines
  • Clearly articulate your design decisions and embrace constructive criticism as part of the design process
  • Pride yourself on unparalleled collaboration skills and look forward to partnering with marketing, product, and other designers to create beautiful designs in an agile environment
  • Contribute not only to the projects you work on, but to your team as a whole, identifying new design-led projects, gaining buy-in and collaborating with other disciplines and departments
  • Spread design thinking and enthusiasm across your teams

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional visual design and web design experience
  • Exceptional portfolio featuring detailed design work, including examples of illustration and iconography
  • Fundamental understanding of the formal elements of design including color, typography, and layout
  • Be detail-oriented, pixel-perfection obsessed, and blessed with good taste
  • Have extraordinary conceptual skills to turn abstract ideas into powerful visuals
  • An absolute pro with the Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity with Sketch
  • Familiarity with web technologies and how to design for them (you should know which parts of designs will require HTML, CSS, or JavaScript, but you don’t need to be a coder)
  • Thinking in scalable systems, not one-off solutions
  • Thorough design process for discovering edge cases and removing assumptions
  • Positive attitude and the knowledge that any design problem is interesting if you make it one
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
  • Experience with designing for a content management or marketing automation system (Wordpress, Hubspot, etc.)
  • Experience designing for a variety of platforms (web, mobile, print, email, video) and a familiarity with product design

Design at Recurly

Recurly is committed to a strong user experience from the CEO on down and sophisticated design is a top priority here. You’ll be part of a small but growing design team with the opportunity to tackle interesting challenges on a daily basis. This is a senior role. You will contribute in a significant way to the future of the Recurly brand.

Our Recurly Team Dribbble Page will give you a sense of the overall aesthetic as well as our Company Website.
