About the Advanced Automated Design team

Designers on our team think big and bold, they are not afraid to take risks or make mistakes while pursuing innovation and disrupting the status quo. We aim to create a strong culture of support that enables us to leave our egos at the door so that the sum of our work can be greater than its parts. 


The team is working on creating digital products including production ready cockpit models and future mobility, up to level 5 autonomy. We create impact by rolling out digital products across an entire mobility ecosystem, while following a cohesive design philosophy. 


You will collaborate across teams with product managers, UX researchers and engineering. Most importantly, you will be part of a high performing team that loves having fun together, solving complex problems that have a positive impact in the world, while maintaining constant growth as part of its core mentality.


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a talented Senior Product Designer to join our AAD team in Tokyo, Japan. We’re looking for someone who is curious and values learning. You will thrive in this role if you are passionate about producing effective, creative real-world design solutions with the user in mind. You strive to understand peoples’ intentions, needs, behaviors, thoughts and emotions, in an effort to design better interactions and experiences. 


Our team’s mission is to create the world's smartest, safest, human-centered user experiences for all levels of autonomous mobility. In real world mobility contexts, experiences happen across the digital and physical divide. Your role as a Product Designer on the AAD team will be to envision how people experience our products in a multisensory way and bring that vision to life. You love creative problem solving, designing solutions that are intuitive and delightful for customers to use, have high standards and have a strong hunger for innovation. We’re looking for a designer who is skilled at each stage of the design process but always focused on the needs of the customer. 


Our designers work collaboratively with researchers and other cross-functional teams. RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a Senior product designer to:

  • Envision and design future automated mobility solutions and experiences; from L2 to L5
  • Knowledge of product design practices, agile methodologies, 2D and 3D software
  • Apply cross domain UX/UI design experience and knowledge to develop user flows, wireframes, prototypes, mock-ups, high fidelity design and prototypes through to design hand-off
  • Work collaboratively as part of a high performing team in an agile, iterative process
  • Thrive as an independent, autonomous, creative thinker that can break out from conventional solutions
  • Work closely with product owners to shape and deliver real world features to millions of customers
  • Be a strong communicator. You have the ability to clearly articulate and explain your thoughts on usability, engagement, business / user needs and effectiveness / value add


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working cross-culturally
  • Experience delivering real world products
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, Interaction Design, or evidence of exceptional ability
  • A strong design portfolio exemplifying who you are as a designer
  • 10+ years’ work experience creating world-class experiences for web, mobile or for the Automotive industry
  • Ability to communicate design concept ideas through sketches, wireframes, prototypes, 2D and 3D animations.
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced, high performance environment under minimal supervision
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently but also collaborative and driven by constructive group feedback 
  • Growth mindset is a must


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Speaks Japanese
  • Knows Unity and 3D software
  • Has a great sense of humor
  • Team player looking to make a difference in the world
