hi — Here's a snippet of some lettering I'm working on for a project, with two initial easy letters to test out the concept. Still figuring out how this system works on the round letters, so more on that soon. I decided to try laying them out with some texture (it's the first time I use stipple texture on illustrator like that).

Luca West Option 3 — Setting sun reinforces westward imagery. Rippling water is reminiscent of the many shores of Tuscany; can also represent texture of foods, such as lasagna. Submerged portion could represent the consumption of fine wines. Client wanted a super minimal logo.

Smash Design Wordmark — A reverse contrast typeface is where the horizontal strokes are thicker than the vertical strokes—the opposite of 95% of typefaces. To further accentuate this is the backwards strokes of the `M` and `A`. This 19th-century idea is still a little punk rock today. And should work pretty well as a mark for my brother-in-law’s new (mildly punk rock) architecture identity.
